Mango Chili Smoothie by Julie Morris

Recipe: Mango Chili Smoothie

As temperatures heat up, one of our favorite treats to enjoy here at Murad is a delicious, nutritious smoothie. Superfood Chef Julie Morris created this refreshing smoothie that we highly recommend.

Sweet and tropical with a hint of spice, this smoothie’s secret is using a chili powder made exclusively from red chilies — not one that is a blend of other spices like oregano and garlic, which are too savory for smoothie purposes. If you can’t find a pure chili powder, use a fresh, de-seeded red jalapeño pepper instead.

Mango Chili Smoothie

Makes two 16-ounce servings

  • 2 ½ cups frozen mango chunks
  • 3 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 2 tablespoons dried goji berries
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder (see note above)
  • 1 ½ cups apple juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
  • sweetener of your choice, to taste (optional)

Blend all the ingredients together until smooth. Add sweetener, if desired.

Superfood Boost: Add 1 tablespoon of chia seeds for extra fiber.

Seriously? Spicy mango? Oh c’mon! I gotta try this. Mango is my favorite fruit and i’m not a fan of spicy food. Well, this might make me love spicy food. Thanks for sharing this. I’m trying this after my comment.
