Enviornmental Aging

Environmental damage is the leading cause of premature aging on our skin.
No matter who you are or where you live, your skin is exposed to some level
of toxins 365 days a year. These unforgiving skin stressors take their toll and
cause environmental damage that begins deep below the surface of your
skin…years before you even see it!

Eshield Environmental Aging

Sun spots and age spots

Fine lines and wrinkles

Uneven skin tone

Dull, dry skin

Loss of firmness

Sun Damage
The sun’s UVA/UVB rays damage skin at the surface,
as well as at the cellular level. This cellular damage
can create problems that are only visible in the long
term, such as sun spots, fine lines and wrinkles,
mottled, reddish complexion and
skin cancer.

Pollution
Urban pollution has an oxidizing effect on your skin
that causes free radical damage, which accelerates
the aging of your skin.

Weather
While sun damage is the most obvious cause of
premature aging, weather conditions can also play
a role. Arid, dry weather and extreme cold can strip
skin of vital moisture.

Cultural Stress®
Cultural Stress is the cumulative and chronic stress
that comes with all of the competing demands of life
in the modern world. Cultural Stress can cause an
outpouring of adrenaline, cortisol and other stress-
related hormones that can result in free radical
damage to cell membranes.

Smoking
Smoking doesn’t just make you look older—it actually
accelerates the cellular aging process. The toxins and
free radicals produced by inhaling cigarette smoke will
shorten a smoker’s lifespan by an average of more
than 10 years.

All environmental stressors share one common destructive pathway: they are free
radical generators.

A free radical is an unstable molecule that steals electrons from stable molecules.
These once-stable molecules then become free radicals, and a chain reaction occurs.
It sounds complicated, but it’s actually quite simple. Free radicals alter the molecular
structure of vital cell membranes, weakening cell defenses and making them
susceptible to damage, disease or even death.

Antioxidants, like those found in Environmental Shield®, are our best defense against
free radical assaults because they provide an abundance of electrons to stabilize free
radicals and deactivate them.
