How did you get into yoga?
My first introduction to yoga was in high school. My friend took me to a class that her dad suggested we go to. We were laughing in the back row. I didn’t take it seriously. I we re-introduced in college and have been practicing ever since. I think when something is so new and different from anything you’ve done before it’s easy to laugh at your mistakes. Sometimes in class I still find myself laughing when I fall out of a pose. You can’t take yourself too serious.

How long have you been practicing?
9 years

Where do you practice?
YogaWorks and sometimes at home. I need to boost up my home practice.

What’s your favorite yoga pose?
Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (Upward-Facing Dog)

Why do you practice yoga?
Sounds cliché, but I practice for the mind, body and soul. In the last few years I’ve been diving deeper into my practice with mediation and educating myself on the history of yoga, how to deepen my practice, and understanding chakra energy.

How have you made it part of your fitness routine?
It’s my main fitness routine! But I also do Pilates and strength training to help support my practice.

What is your personal mantra?
Your thoughts become your reality. If you have positive thoughts you will see the good in the universe, if you have negative thoughts all you will see is negative. Exude positive energy and you will get the same in return.

Summer is right around the corner, and there’s no better time to jump start your fitness routine than right now.
