Murad Gives Back
Murad is committed to the health of our customers, our community and our world. As a company, we give back to the community by supporting several organizations, including the ones listed below. And in 2011, we formed the Murad Family Foundation, with the mission of promoting Inclusive Health in education and action to help young people to lead healthier, happier and more connected lives.
Beach City Baseball Special Needs Batting Program
The purpose of this program is to provide free baseball lessons to children of all ages with special needs. This joint community service program is open to the public and consists of a free series of one-on-one 30-minute batting sessions to any child with a special need in the community. The goal of these sessions is not only to teach the child how to hit a baseball, using focused repetition on the baseball T and coach pitch techniques, but also to build confidence and have fun.
El Segundo Ed Foundation/Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Program
Project Lead the Way was created to give students the opportunity to become engaged in science by investigating, examining and solving medical challenges and is designed to prepare students to be the most innovative and productive leaders in science, technology and medicine, and to make meaningful, pioneering contributions to our world. Students at El Segundo High School will be introduced to the medical pathway in 9th grade and will continue the program through the 12th grade, preparing them to successfully complete baccalaureate and advanced medical programs.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles
Each year Dr. Murad offers educational scholarships to those pursuing careers in healthcare. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles works to help children in need reach their potential through professionally supported, one–to–one mentoring relationships that strengthen the social,emotional, cognitive and behavioral competencies of children living in poverty; improve the children's commitment to school and to academic achievement; improve the children's understanding of healthy standards of behavior; improve each child's resilience, self–efficacy and sense of the future; and strengthen each child's sense of self–worth.
International SPA AssociationEndowment Fund
Murad continues to lead the way within the spa industry by supporting the ISPA Endowment Fund. The ISPA Endowment fund was created to provide a permanent resource for the growth and sustainability of the spa industry, focusing primarily on education and research.
SOSMentor’s mission is to educate, motivate and empower youth of all ages to make healthy eating choices, live an active lifestyle, and become health advocates in their communities. Programs for building the next generation of healthy, active members of society include school-based mentoring, nutrition and physical education and leadership training.
Murad After-School Program
Murad supports education in the South Bay areathrough the Murad After-School Program at TheJewish Community Center–Chabad of BeachCities in Redondo Beach. This enriched, supervised after-school program isavailable every day after school and is open to allchildren, kindergarten through sixth grade, in theSouth Bay, California area. Buses pick childrenup from schools in Torrance, Manhattan Beach,Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, and bringthem to The Jewish Community Center–Chabadof Beach Cities in Redondo Beach. A broadspectrum of extracurricular activities includingcomputer learning, arts, crafts, music, dance,team sports and games are offered, but only afterhomework is completed. There is tuition, butspace permitting, no child is turned down. Thoseunable to afford The Murad After–SchoolProgram, as determined by the program director,will receive tuition assistance per thecommunity center.
Vista Del Mar Childcare Center
For nearly 3 decades, Dr. Murad has supportedVista Del Mar providing free medical care tochildren of all ages. Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services isdedicated to the well-being and care of childrenand families in Southern California who suffer theemotional, physical, psychological and socialconsequences of abuse, neglect andabandonment.
Heal the Bay Aquarium
The Murad aquarium tank provides a hands onlearning experience for children of all ages. The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium (SMPA) is amarine science aquarium offering school groups,families and visitors a unique view into the oceanworld just outside its doors and is home todozens of species of marine animals and plants.
Grades of Green
Grades of Green is an environmental education nonprofit that inspires and empowers kids and the broader school community to care for the environment. Through its website, gradesofgreen.org, its Youth Corps programs and school grants, Grades of Green is starting a green school movement that in just a few years has already inspired nearly 140,000 students to take steps toward environmental, awareness, responsibility and advocacy.
Students Run LA
The mission of Students Run LA is to use the ASICS LA Marathon as the context for providing at-risk secondary students with an opportunity to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health. Participating students are offered a truly life-changing experience: training and running in a world class marathon.
