

Beach City Baseball Special Needs
Batting Program
The purpose of this program is to provide free baseball
lessons to children of all ages with special needs.
This joint community service program is open to the
public and consists of a free series of one-on-one
30-minute batting sessions to any child with a special
need in the community. The goal of these sessions is
not only to teach the child how to hit a baseball,
using focused repetition on the baseball T and coach
pitch techniques, but also to build confidence
and have fun.

El Segundo Ed Foundation/Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Program
Way was created to give students the opportunity
to become engaged in science by investigating,
examining and solving medical challenges and is
designed to prepare students to be the most
innovative and productive leaders in science,
technology and medicine, and to make meaningful,
pioneering contributions to our world. Students
at El Segundo High School will be introduced to
the medical pathway in 9th grade and will continue
the program through the 12th grade, preparing them
to successfully complete baccalaureate and
advanced medical programs.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles works to
help children in need reach their potential through
professionally supported, one–to–one mentoring
relationships that strengthen the social,
emotional, cognitive and behavioral
competencies of children living in poverty;
improve the children's commitment to school and
to academic achievement; improve the children's
understanding of healthy standards of behavior;
improve each child's resilience, self–efficacy and
sense of the future; and strengthen each child's
sense of self–worth.

Manhattan Beach Roundhouse, Center
for Aquatic Education
sponsorship of aquatic tanks and a unique
state–of–the–art microscope system to teach
children the importance of the sea life within our
coastal waters.
The Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab & Aquarium strives to foster and promote the public study of, and interest in, the oceans, tidelands and beaches of Southern California, the marine life therein, and the impact of human population on that environment by teaching classes, both at the Roundhouse and off–site, and welcoming visitors into the Roundhouse during public hours.

Heal the Bay Aquarium
The Murad aquarium tank provides a hands onlearning experience for children of all ages.
The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium (SMPA) is a
marine science aquarium offering school groups,
families and visitors a unique view into the ocean
world just outside its doors and is home to
dozens of species of marine animals and plants.

Murad After-School Program
Murad supports education in the South Bay areathrough the Murad After-School Program at The
Jewish Community Center–Chabad of Beach
Cities in Redondo Beach.
This enriched, supervised after-school program is
available every day after school and is open to all
children, kindergarten through sixth grade, in the
South Bay, California area. Buses pick children
up from schools in Torrance, Manhattan Beach,
Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, and bring
them to The Jewish Community Center–Chabad
of Beach Cities in Redondo Beach. A broad
spectrum of extracurricular activities including
computer learning, arts, crafts, music, dance,
team sports and games are offered, but only after
homework is completed. There is tuition, but
space permitting, no child is turned down. Those
unable to afford The Murad After–School
Program, as determined by the program director,
will receive tuition assistance per the
community center.

For nearly 3 decades, Dr. Murad has supportedVista Del Mar providing free medical care to
children of all ages.
Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services is
dedicated to the well-being and care of children
and families in Southern California who suffer the
emotional, physical, psychological and social
consequences of abuse, neglect and
abandonment.
