Beach City Baseball Special Needs
The purpose of this program is to provide free baseball
lessons to children of all ages with special needs.
This joint community service program is open to the
public and consists of a free series of one-on-one
30-minute batting sessions to any child with a special
need in the community. The goal of these sessions is
not only to teach the child how to hit a baseball,
using focused repetition on the baseball T and coach
pitch techniques, but also to build confidence
and have fun.
El Segundo Ed Foundation/Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Program
Project Lead the Way was created to give students the
opportunity to become engaged in science by
investigating, examining and solving medical
challenges and is designed to prepare students to
be the most innovative and productive leaders in
science, technology and medicine, and to make
meaningful, pioneering contributions to our world.
Students at El Segundo High School will be introduced
to the medical pathway in 9th grade and will continue
the program through the 12th grade, preparing them
to successfully complete baccalaureate and
advanced medical programs.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los AngelesEach year Dr. Murad offers educational scholarships
to those pursuing careers in healthcare.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Los Angeles works to
help children in need reach their potential through
professionally supported, one–to–one mentoring
relationships that strengthen the social,emotional,
cognitive and behavioral competencies of children
living in poverty; improve the children's commitment
to school and to academic achievement; improve the
children's understanding of healthy standards of
behavior; improve each child's resilience, self–efficacy
and sense of the future; and strengthen each child's
sense of self–worth.

SOS MentorSOSMentor’s mission is to educate, motivate and empower youth of all ages to make healthy eating choices, live an active lifestyle, and become health advocates in their communities. Programs for building the next generation of healthy, active members of society include school-based mentoring, nutrition and physical education and leadership training.
Murad After-School ProgramMurad supports education in the South Bay area
through the Murad After-School Program at The
Jewish Community Center–Chabad of Beach
Cities in Redondo Beach.
This enriched, supervised after-school program is
available every day after school and is open to all
children, kindergarten through sixth grade, in the
South Bay, California area. Buses pick children
up from schools in Torrance, Manhattan Beach,
Hermosa Beach and Redondo Beach, and bring
them to The Jewish Community Center–Chabad
of Beach Cities in Redondo Beach. A broad
spectrum of extracurricular activities including
computer learning, arts, crafts, music, dance,
team sports and games are offered, but only after
homework is completed. There is tuition, but
space permitting, no child is turned down. Those
unable to afford The Murad After–School
Program, as determined by the program director,
will receive tuition assistance per the
Vista Del Mar Childcare CenterFor nearly 3 decades, Dr. Murad has supported
Vista Del Mar providing free medical care to
children of all ages.

Heal the Bay AquariumThe Murad aquarium tank provides a hands on
learning experience for children of all ages.
The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium (SMPA) is a
marine science aquarium offering school groups,
families and visitors a unique view into the ocean
world just outside its doors and is home to
dozens of species of marine animals and plants.
Grades of GreenGrades of Green is an environmental education nonprofit
that inspires and empowers kids and the broader school
community to care for the environment. Through its
website, gradesofgreen.org, its Youth Corps programs
and school grants, Grades of Green is starting a green
school movement that in just a few years has already
inspired nearly 140,000 students to take steps toward
environmental, awareness, responsibility and advocacy.
Students Run LAThe mission of Students Run LA is to use
the ASICS LA Marathon as the context for providing
at-risk secondary students with an opportunity to
experience the benefits of goal-setting, character
development, adult mentoring and improved health.
